RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION - ARCHIVED NEWS

Neighbourhood Watch Meeting – 15th September 2009

An interesting and productive meeting was held where many attended to meet our local Garda representatives. Some of the items discussed were, recorded crime in the area, the recently introduced, AND LOCALLY USED to good effect, ASBO, various burglar deterrance techniques and specifics on safe hiding places for valuables. New locks for standard front and patio doors is suggested as those currently in place have been proven to be easily defeated by burglars. The residents association has sourced these at a discount for members only. Contact Residents Association for details.

CLEAN-UP DAY - April 25th 2009

Estate Clean-up Day has come and gone again and we saw many people out that afternoon, doing their bit to make Griffeen Glen the nicest place to live in Lucan. The committee would like to thank all who made the effort, especially those who went above and beyond the call in their efforts. A little bit of weeding or sweeping, a touch of pruning, whatever you are up to, so long as you make the effort. REMEMBER even if you only do the front of your own home it makes a difference.

A pile of filled refuse sacks was to be seen at the entrances to the DRIVE, BOULEVARD, ROAD & AVENUE before being collected by the Council.

AND…

We will be planting Daffodil Bulbs around the bases of trees throughout the estate to give a bit of spring colour next year!

Please spare a small amount of time to assist in making YOUR estate a nicer place to live.

You may have noticed that Graffiti is becoming an increasing problem at the entrances to our estate especially at the Avenue. We have learned that a special “Graffiti Task Force” has been set up by South Dublin County Council to deal with problem graffiti and we are currently pressing them to make our estate a priority. In the meantime please be vigilant and report any “artists” to the Gardaí.
